As I’m writing I’m looking out on a dreary, grey day, the sort of day that makes you want to curl up on the sofa with a cup of tea and a Netflix film.
But this isn’t the movies, this is real life and real life chores need doing, kids need picking up, work needs finishing and the dog needs a walk.
Need. That’s a big word for only four letters. Everyone needs this and needs that, but have you ever thought about what you need? Probably not. We’re not good at putting ourselves first are we? Ladies, it’s time. How many times have you looked in the mirror and claimed that you needed a new wardrobe, to lose weight, a haircut, a miracle! I’m here to tell you that you don’t need any of those things.
But you do need a few tips and tricks along the way, a couple of small steps in the right direction will make all the difference.
A splash of colour is all you need
So, style and colour are my thing. If we go back to what I was saying about a dreary day, on days like these the temptation is to reach for your old grey comfies right? But actually I pull out my brightest colours!
My happy reds, optimistic yellows and sociable orange, and I feel instantly better.
Do you know your happy colours?
Colour is a superpower that we all have but most of us don’t realise it.
Your happy colours will not only make you feel great but also everyone around you. Your buoyancy will be infectious! We all have different happy colours, and that’s ok because we’re unique – another superpower that you didn’t know you had!

And what about style?
As for style, this is the height of summer, on one hand we wish for sunny, warm weather but on the other this is a style nightmare!
Golden girls adorn magazines with tousled beach wavy hair and skin with just the right amount of sheen, but the reality is hot weather = makeup dripping down your face, lank hair, sunburn and/or patchy fake tan, and sweat patches! And not to mention the pressure to be ‘beach body ready’ – I’ll solve that one for you, do you have a body? Yes? Then you are beach body ready!
My tips for keeping cool in both style and temperature, is to keep it simple, go for natural fibres and invest in a handheld fan – yes, you heard it here first, just ask my mother-in-law, she always has one to hand from April to September -I’m going to bring it back into fashion!
So ladies, reach for your fans, unless it’s raining which is probably more likely, then reach for your brollies!
