My 5 top tips successful sale shopping
The Summer Sale! It’s here!
To be honest, there seems to be a sale every five minutes but this one tends to be a biggie. Bargains everywhere, but is it really a bargain if you don’t need it, and when it’s been hanging in your wardrobe for a year unworn, also not wanted?
I know, I know we all love what we think is a bargain, and I don’t want to rain on anyone’s sale shopping parade, but there are rules…too harsh?
Ok, guidelines we should follow for a successful sale shop. Here goes:
1. Shop with a plan
Ask yourself…
- What do I need?
- Is there a gap in my wardrobe for this?
2. Try it on
So many people can’t be bothered, but if you can’t be bothered at this stage then you definitely won’t be bothered to take it back if it’s not right. Currently a lot of changing rooms aren’t open, so my trick is to buy the clothes, try on in a toilet or in a shop that does have changing rooms open and return the items if necessary.
Bit cheeky but needs must!
Also, a little tip, when you know your body shape, it makes this whole process a lot easier.
3. Buy 'out of season' items
Sounds crazy to be buying coats and jumpers in July but this is where you will get a BARGAIN!
4. Follow The Rule of Three
- “Can I wear this with three different items in my wardrobe”
- “Can I wear this to three different occasions?”
- “Will I wear this 30 times?”
5. Trust your gut
If there is a small niggle saying no, listen to it.
However, if you put it back and find that you can’t stop thinking about it, go back and try it again. If the niggle is still there, it’s a no from me.
Stick to these guidelines and sale shopping will be less of a danger zone and you can be smug in the knowledge that you’ve bagged yourself a bargain!
Good luck, have fun!
